legendary miami duo oscar g and ralph falcons murk label has always been a sign of quality for house heads all over the world. their distinctive productions have re-shaped the sound of deep house since the very early 90s and they released some of the most sought after house 12inches throughout this period under numerous psuedonyms.

the first vinyl from kyoto based japanese label, descanso. for side a with 2 tracks, the label owner baiyon collaborates with los updates (aka jorge gonzález) with vocals. they have built a collaborative friendship since baiyon rimexed “i throw water into the lake” and “miss you so” by los updates and ricardo villalobos released from nice cat! records. a jazzy, energetic track entitled “i don’t care” for side b by baiyon.

side a: palace of change. written in 2011 this one is from the vaults, it came at a time when i wanted change in my music to break away from being diamond eye and move to a more upbeat and uplifting sound, while retaining my signature spiritual and thoughtful approach to music. side b: auf deutsch. an out there rhythm structure that encompasses the half time approach to techno, a contrast to the a side, this has a more lean back and shoulder movement groove, suitable for either side, but can t have light without shadow.

neueheimat is joinig the cirque du minimaliste family on its sublabel manege with his debut release *quartier3*. neueheimat was founded near hamburg in 2012 by dennis grell. after working for many years as a commissioned producer and remixer for publishers and labels, dennis wished to start his own, new project and truly realise his creativity. conceptually, the aim is for the music to blend seamlessly with his photographs of urban architecture and to document the anonymity of life within city walls. influenced by artists such as anders trentemøller, jon hopkins, trent reznor and the earlier einstürzende neubauten, dennis began creating his own definition of electronic music. neueheimat and subsequently *quartier3 ep* are characterised by dennis clear style of production: a few lighter passages, but primarily creating a deep and murky impression. large spaces leave room for interpretation and present the listener with images that either they have never seen or have been missing for a long time. created on old analogue equipment, mixed on a 30-year-old tape recorder and mastered by mastering engineer stefan betke (tresor, cabaret voltaire, lucy, laibach), *quartier3* is a significant milestone in dennis production history.

verona based producer and dj luca ballerini is our latest discovery and a perfect proof that cocoon recordings is still looking for new kids on the block and gives them the chance to step into the arena. although we have to admit that luca ballerini is not a complete rookie anymore. after his debut on siena recordings in 2010, ballerini founded his own plattforms and released several productions on musical metaphor and wax jam.

one of las smartest young voices says the la times…which the artist suspects, may just be a covert way of saying la is dumb. “open” mike eagle wouldnt terribly mind, being born and raised in chicago where the painful winters and his uppity grandparents kept him inside as a youth. he spent his formative years watching alternative music happen on mtv and hoping to one day be able to audition for the native tongues. as a young adult after graduating with a degree in psychology, he did the next best thing and moved to los angeles, joining the project blowed collective where he made music and toured with busdriver, aceyalone, abstract, nocando, and more. he has also gained notoriety in the world of comedy by being invited by professional funny people (paul f. tompkins, hannibal buress, matt besser/ucb) to rap at their shows. he would like to be raps kurt vonnegut but recognizes that he would first have to create something as iconic as the four-stroke illustration of an anus. he practices by releasing rap albums that delight, entertain, and confuse.

first up we have some seriously funked up jazz disco business here, vocals have been stripped out apart from the line searching, fierce drums and percussion, baseline is just sublime with keys to die for singing out over the top, gorgeous guitar with soaring strings, extended to keep those feet happy on the dance floor.

the medieval alchemists were obsessed with anti-poles, often exploring the possibilities to mix substances and energies together that were considered to belong to opposite elements, trying to merge them into new, higher forms. sometimes with impressive results that have effected the development of modern chemistry and medicine

black rox is back with 2 more sneaky soft rocks specials that have somehow been liberated from locked cd wallets and released into the wild for general consumption. the a side sabu dance combines horns, flutes & percussion on this killer slice of midtempo funk from africa via berlin. this has been thoroughly road tested by soft rocks at their kinfolk night & never fails to get a great response from the dancefloor. side b. don t worry it s not the tantric one s ode to voyeurism but a rare as hens teeth slice of uk. reggae at is s finest. adjustments have been made sensitively and sounds have been chosen to carefully match those from the appropriate era. a perfect track for blissful summer evenings (yeah whatever!).
